Endometriosis cannot be recognised by one clear sign, but by a pattern of pain and symptoms that go a little further than normal menstrual pain and do not go away.
What often occurs together
Not every characteristic has to be correct, but together they form a recognizable picture.
💀 Severe menstrual pain
Pain that does not respond to regular painkillers and forces you to cancel activities, not only 'annoying' but really limiting.
📅 Pain outside your period om
Also at other times in your cycle, which differs from normal menstrual pain that comes with the bleeding and goes away.
💕 Pain during sex
Deep pain during or after sex can indicate endometriosis, especially if it is accompanied by other symptoms.
🚿 Pain during urination or defecation
Especially around menstruation, which may indicate endometriosis that affects the bladder or intestines.
🔔 Persistent fatigue
Chronic, exhausting fatigue often occurs together with the pain symptoms.
👶 Fertility problems
If you are unable to become pregnant when there is no other clear cause, endometriosis may be a factor.
