Check the objection notice
Check how and where to object. The normal period is six weeks and starts on the day after the decision was formally notified.
First check the deadline and the formal decision. You can then object with focus, use free independent client support and ask about urgent temporary protection.
A rejection can be overwhelming. These four actions matter first:
Check how and where to object. The normal period is six weeks and starts on the day after the decision was formally notified.
Keep the envelope, email and confirmations so you can show when and how the decision was sent.
Check whether your situation, limitations, preferences and possible solutions were recorded fully and correctly.
If your full reasons are not ready, submit a short pro forma objection in time and add the reasons within the municipality's remedy period.
Not every negative message is a decision you can object to. Choose the situation closest to yours.
Ask the municipality to put the outcome and next step in writing. If needed, ask how to submit a formal application.
A report is usually not yet the formal decision. Correct errors and ask for a decision on your application.
Check the objection notice and object to the municipality within the stated period.
You can also challenge a formal decision granting fewer hours, another service or no personal budget.
An objection does not automatically pause the decision. Also read the urgent route on this page.
Also read the focused page on a rejected wheelchair, mobility scooter, stairlift or home adaptation.
Wmo assistive device rejected →A rejection should reflect your personal circumstances and be explained clearly. Check both the conclusion and how the municipality reached it.
Choose material that supports the disputed points; more paperwork is not automatically better.
Use only reasons that fit your decision. Refer to the decision and explain concretely what is wrong or missing.
Relevant limitations, circumstances or consequences were not investigated.
The report or decision contains incorrect or incomplete information.
The service or informal help mentioned is unavailable, unrealistic or insufficient.
The municipality does not clearly explain the rejection or why less support would be enough.
Relevant information was left out without a clear explanation.
You are referred elsewhere without a proper assessment of whether that route actually covers your needs.
Follow the submission route in the decision and keep proof of receipt.
Include your name, address, date, reference and the decision you object to.
State point by point what is factually wrong or missing from the investigation or reasoning.
Ask for a full reconsideration and say what outcome or further investigation you believe is needed.
Use the route in the objection notice and keep a copy and proof of delivery.
A pro forma objection can protect the deadline. Identify yourself and the decision and state that the grounds will follow. The municipality must allow a remedy period; keep track of that new date.
The free tool creates an editable draft. Your entries remain in your browser. It is not individual legal advice and the objection notice remains decisive.
Keep the acknowledgement and case number.
You may inspect the case documents. The municipality may ask for additions or respond in writing.
You will often be able to explain your objection orally and may bring support.
Normally six weeks after the objection period ends, or twelve with an advisory committee. Extensions are possible.
If the rejection remains, the new decision explains how and when to appeal to the administrative court.
An objection normally does not suspend a Dutch Wmo decision. Ask the municipality in writing for a temporary solution. If an objection or appeal is pending and the situation is urgent, you may ask the preliminary-relief judge for a temporary measure. Court fees apply.

The Wmo is Dutch law. Municipalities have local regulations and procedures, so the individual decision and objection notice remain important.
