Different problems require different procedures

What is your complaint or objection about?

Using the wrong procedure costs time. First determine whether you are objecting to a formal decision or complaining about conduct, implementation or service.

Urgent help or a mental health crisis

If there is immediate danger, call 112. If you are thinking about suicide, call or chat with 113 Suicide Prevention. For urgent mental health support without immediate danger to life, contact your GP or the out-of-hours GP service. Frequently asked questions

Practical questions about care in Utrecht

Do I always need to see my GP first for mental health care?
A valid referral is usually required for mental health care covered by Dutch health insurance. Your GP or POH-GGZ can help determine the appropriate level of care and expertise. Municipal support and youth care may use different entry routes.
What is the difference between a Buurtteam and U Centraal in Utrecht?
A Buurtteam provides support directly and is an important route to additional Wmo help. U Centraal provides independent client support and is separate from the municipality and the Buurtteam. An adviser can help you think things through and attend meetings with you.
Can I choose between KOOS and Spoor030 myself?
Additional youth care is divided by residential area. KOOS operates in western Utrecht and Spoor030 in eastern Utrecht. Check your postcode and discuss a referral with the Buurtteam, GP or another authorised referrer.
What if the provider cannot accept me?
Ask the referrer to help find a suitable alternative. If the wait is long, contact your health insurer and request waiting-list mediation. Ask the provider to record clearly why they cannot accept you and what next step they recommend.
Can U Centraal help with a Wmo objection?
Yes. Independent client support can explain the process, help organise your case and support you with a complaint or objection. The objection deadline still applies, so do not wait to protect that deadline.
Do these Wmo routes apply throughout the province of Utrecht?
No. This page mainly covers the municipality of Utrecht. Other municipalities have their own Wmo desks, social teams, contracts and local schemes. Use the entry point provided by the municipality where you live.
